On 29.04.2023 a workshop on “Role of Cyber Forensics in Identification of Cyber Criminals” was organized by the Cyber Forensics Applied Lab, Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The Session was handled by Dr. R. Ravi, Professor and Research Center Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Cyber Forensics Applied Lab In-charge, FXEC. The speaker Dr. R. Ravi explained the following concepts to the students such as how to identify the vulnerability of the system to decide whether the system is secure or not, Recovering deleted files from a hard disk, Gathering evidence, Viewing files of various formats, Locating files needed for a forensics investigation, Performing image and file conversions, Handling evidence data, Creating a disk image file of a hard disk partition and Identification of evidence in a short time frame, and estimate the overall menace and impact of the malicious cyber activity on the victim user or organization and suggest for protection against the attack. The resource person enumerated the details of Cyber Forensics Software and Hardware. Finally, he insisted the students inform the authorities immediately, if there are cyber attacks. A total of 60 students and 2 staff members participated.
