On 15 and 16.05.2023, a Workshop on "Prototype Design and Development" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of ECE department and IIC through offline mode. The session was handled by Dr. A. Andrew Roobert, In-charge of Advanced Electronic System Design Incubation Center, ASP/ECE, FXEC. 53 students and one faculty participated. The program started with a welcome address by Dr R Prem Ananth, IIC Convener, explaining the motto of IIC and the theme of IIC. He introduced expert Dr. A. Andrew Roobert, Professor, FXEC, who listed the achievements in prototype design in his Advanced Electronic System Design Incubation Center.
He also welcomed all the students and encouraged them to listen and make the sessions more interactive. The speaker discussed the importance of prototyping and the four types of prototyping: Feasibility Prototypes, Low-fidelity User Prototypes, High-fidelity User Prototypes and High-fidelity User Prototypes. He explained the process involved in preparing a prototype and highlighted the importance of developing the prototype with the help of his own experience in product development and defined the words Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and Proof of Concept (PoC). He also addressed the three words Challenging, frustrating and Rewarding in Prototyping and explained each term with examples from IOT based prototyping. He concluded the session by addressing the queries raised by the students and encouraged them to come with ideas to his Advanced Electronic System Design Incubation Centre, so that ideas can be converted to prototypes. Further he explained the IOT based Prototype development process and step in IOT prototype. The interaction between the students and the resource person was highly motivating to all the Participants. The two days workshop came to an end with the feedback of Students.
