Workshop on Entrepreneurship and innovation as the career Opportunity

On 13.9.2024 a workshop was organized on the title “Entrepreneurship and innovation as the career Opportunity” by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Electronics and Communication Engineering department. The session was handled by Dr. R Prem Ananth, IIC Convener, IIC Innovation Ambassador for "Design thinking & Innovations", Assistant professor, Francis Xavier Engineering College. 256 students and 2 faculties participated in the program. This event was coordinated by Mr Pradeep T Rajan, Assistant Professor, Department of ECE, Francis Xavier Engineering College.

The introduction of the resource person was delivered by Mrs. Shalla, Assistant Professor in the English Department. The guest speaker started the session and said entrepreneurship and innovation have become essential drivers of economic growth and societal progress. Entrepreneurs are individuals who take the risk of starting new businesses, with the aim of delivering solutions to existing market needs or creating new demand through innovative products and services. Innovation, on the other hand, plays a key role in creating value by transforming creative ideas into practical applications, helping entrepreneurs differentiate themselves in competitive markets. With the rapidly changing technological landscape, fostering innovation has become a necessity for the success of entrepreneurial ventures.

The resource person highlighted three case studies in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and highlighted real-world impact of entrepreneurship and innovation. OYO Rooms: Founded by a young entrepreneur, Ritesh Agarwal, OYO Rooms disrupted the traditional hotel industry by introducing a technology-driven platform that provides standardized, affordable accommodations. Starting with a single hotel in Gurugram, the company quickly expanded globally, showcasing the power of innovation and the importance of solving existing market problems with creative solutions.

Elon Musk and Tesla: Tesla's success story was another key case study presented. Elon Musk's innovation-driven approach transformed Tesla into a global leader in electric vehicles. Musk’s entrepreneurial vision of making sustainable energy accessible is a perfect example of how innovation, when applied with long-term thinking, can revolutionize entire industry. Swiggy: India-based Swiggy is another example of successful entrepreneurship. The founders leveraged technological innovations to create a platform for food delivery that catered to the growing demand for convenience in urban areas. Starting in a few cities, Swiggy grew into a nationwide service by continuously improving its operations and customer engagement using cutting-edge technologies and innovative business models. Through discussions on real-life case studies and interactive sessions by the resource person students were inspired to consider entrepreneurship and innovation as exciting and rewarding career paths. The event served as a platform to foster entrepreneurial thinking among students, preparing them for the challenges and opportunities in the dynamic job market.
