On 08.06. 2022 a workshop on the title “Designing the Structure of Pitching” was organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of ECE department and IIC through offline mode. The session was handled by Dr. R Prem Ananth, IIC Convener, IIC Innovation Ambassador for "Design thinking & Innovations", Assistant professor, Francis Xavier Engineering College from 1.20 - 3.00 pm.
The workshop was presided by Mrs J Friska HOD/ECE and the program was coordinated by Pradheep T Rajan B, Assistant Professor /ECE, Francis Xavier Engineering College. The resource person said that pitching refers to presenting business ideas to another party. For example, one may pitch a startup business to potential investors or the products to potential customers. According to him the business pitch needs to give the audience a clear understanding of the plan or goals to gain buy-in. He said that grabing the attention of the audience, taking them on a clear and logical journey and leaving them with a compelling call to action.
During his speech, he explained that business pitch should be clear, concise, effective, attention-grabbing, highlighting your company’s value and the product or service you sell. Moreover, he gave some tips for pitching the business to investors, the ten tips includes the correct information, consider your investors, tell a story, include contact information, create pitches for multiple occasions, practice, be confident, be respectful, follow up and revise. The workshop created an enthusiasm among the participants. Participants interacted with the resource person and gained lot of insights about pitching and developing the pitch. 44 participants and 4 staff members participated in the workshop.
