On 24.08.2024, a seminar on “Orientation on Developing Technology Startups” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of MCA. The session was handled by Dr. Gopal Samy, Head - Technical Team, Feather Softwares Nagercoil from 10.30 AM to 12.30 PM on 24.08.2024. 56 students and 2 faculties participated. This event was coordinated by Dr. M. Vijaya Maheswari, Assistant Professor, Department of MCA, Francis Xavier Engineering College. This event was conducted with the guidance of Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, EDC Director.

The program started with the welcome address by introduced the speaker. This orientation aimed at guiding aspiring entrepreneurs and startup enthusiasts through the essential steps involved in establishing and growing a technology startup. The speaker shared his ideas in launching the technology-based ventures. The speaker also provided various insights of comprehensive understanding about the startup ecosystem. The process of developing a technology startup right from ideation to scaling where presented by the speaker. He also suggested the common challenges and risks faced by the startups and strategies used by the entrepreneurs. He shared some inspiring stories of entrepreneurs in the technology sector. The orientation was categorized in different sections focusing on market analysis, competitor analysis, financial planning and building the product. The key aspect of the orientation included innovation of new or improved technological solutions, risk management, relying on angel investors. The speaker suggested ideas for identifying opportunities, trend analysis, building a strong team and developing the product. For developing technology startups, suggestions like ideation, design of the product, the development process of the product, the iteration process were also discussed. The major necessary technological background like Front- end development, Back-End development, design of database ideas were also given by the speaker. He gave ideas like, how to scale the business in the area of market expansion, and product diversification. The challenges in scaling the business were also discussed in detail during the session. In terms of funding and financial management he added points in the area of bootstrapping, venture capital, budgeting and revenue model.

In his concluding remarks, he suggested, developing a technology startup involves navigating complex challenges and opportunities. By understanding market needs, building a strong team, developing a viable product, and executing effective strategies, developers can enhance the chances of success. He advised the students to be stay agile, be prepared to adapt, and continuously seek feedback to refine your approach.
