On 7.10.2024, a seminar on “Mentoring of Innovation Ideas by the Innovation Ambassador” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of MCA. The session was handled by Dr.M.Vijaya Maheswari, Assistant Professor, Department of MCA from 9.00 AM to 11.00 AM. 56 students and 2 faculties participated. This event was conducted with the guidance of Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, EDC Director.
The program started with the welcome address by Mrs. D. Angeline Ranjithamani, HOD, Department of MCA, Francis Xavier Engineering College and introduced the speaker. In her address she explained the need for the mentoring. Mentor shared her valuable insights, industry knowledge, and practical skills, guiding mentees through complex challenges. Networking opportunities were also given to the mentees facilitating connections with potential investors, partners, and customers. Mentors suggested ideas to mentees to identify and access resources, such as funding, tools, and talent, essential for developing and launching innovative ideas. Mentor help individuals refine and develop their ideas into viable solutions, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving.
During the session, mentor created an environment where team members can collaborate, share insights, and leverage each other's strengths. Mentor suggested ideas related to identify and connect mentees with necessary resources, such as funding opportunities, technology, and expertise. Students were advised to attend training sessions to build skills related to innovation processes, such as design thinking, rapid prototyping, and market validation. Mentors provided constructive feedback and mentorship to guide mentees through the iterative process of idea refinement. Mentors facilitated peer review sessions where team members can present their ideas and receive feedback. Mentors encouraged the development of pilot projects to test innovative ideas in a controlled environment, gathering real-world data and feedback. Suggestions like organize events that bring together innovators, industry experts, and potential investors to foster connections and collaboration. Mentees developed critical skills in innovation processes, leading to more confident and capable innovators. Continuous mentoring helps establish a long-term culture of innovation, encouraging ongoing creativity and experimentation. Students demonstrated the projects so far, they have developed. Different levels of questions were raised by the other participants to ensure the proper working of the projects. Documenting and sharing success stories from mentees can inspire others and highlight the value of mentorship. Investing in such mentorship initiatives not only enhances innovation but also cultivates a vibrant culture of continuous improvement and growth. Mentor inspired other mentees and highlighted the value of innovation. The interaction between the students and the mentor was highly motivating to all the participants. Session came to an end with the feedback of the students.
