On 26.9.2024 a session on “Innovation: A Seed Bed for Entrepreneurship” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The session was handled by, Mrs. J. Priskilla Angel Rani, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli from 9.30 AM to 12.30 PM. 60 students and 2 faculties participated. This event was coordinated by M.Mariammal AP/CSE. This event was conducted with the guidance of Dr.Lourdes Poobala Rayen, EDC Director.
The program started with the welcome address by M.Mariammal, AP/CSE, Francis Xavier Engineering College. The guest speaker began with explanation about innovation as the process of transforming creative ideas into tangible products, services, or processes that add value. The speaker emphasized that innovation is not limited to technological advancements but can be applied to various fields, including business models, customer experience, and operational improvements.
The speaker also highlighted the role of ecosystems in nurturing innovation. Universities, research institutions, government policies, and corporate partnerships play a crucial role in providing the resources, knowledge, and networks needed for entrepreneurs to thrive. Without a supportive ecosystem, innovation might stagnate, preventing ideas from evolving into viable businesses.
The speaker gave lot of examples like Steve Jobs, Elon Musk, and Oprah Winfrey to demonstrate how innovation paved the way for their success. These real-world cases inspired the participants to recognize the potential within them to become entrepreneurs by embracing innovation. The session ended with an interactive Q&A, where students engaged with the speaker, seeking advice on how to start their entrepreneurial journeys, harness innovation, and build lasting ventures.
