On 11.08.2023 an “Exposure to Innovation and Product Development to IIC Students of MDT Hindu College, Tirunelveli” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell in association with the IIC. The exposure visit was handled Dr. A. Ravi, Professor & Head, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Innovation Ambassador, Francis Xavier Engineering College and Dr. T. C. Subbulakshmi, Professor, Information Technology, Innovation Ambassador, Francis Xavier Engineering College. 40 students from MDT indu College and 2 faculties participated in the program. This event was coordinated by Dr. R Prem Ananth, IIC Convener, IIC Innovation Ambassador for "Design thinking & Innovations", Assistant professor, Francis Xavier Engineering College. This event was conducted with the guidance of Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, IIC President.
The students and staff from IIC institution of MDT Hindu College Tirunelveli visited the Francis Xavier Engineering College Incubation Centres to know the product development and innovation initiatives taken by the college. The students and the staffs visited the Robotics Incubation center and Ideation Incubation center. Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, IIC President explained the importance of IIC and the impact created in the mindset of the students.
Dr.Ravi, Professor/EEE, in-charge of Robotics explained the activities of his incubation center and the products developed by the students involved in the incubation centre such as tiny cockroach Robot, Automatic Weed killer robot, Automatic Land Tiller Machine and an Automatic Lemon Separator Machine. He also shared how the problems were identified through his student’s field visits and how they have ideated the problem and give solutions for the problem identified. One of the innovative product developer Mr Praveen, Final CSE explained his innovative product Iris Walker. He explained how his product differ from the product available in the market. He also explained how field study helped him to improve his innovative product Iris Walker. Another product developer Ms. Dharshini, Final CSE demonstrated her innovative product “Voice assisted smart wheel chair”.
The students visited “Ideation Incubation center”. Dr. T. C. Subbulakshmi, Professor incharge of Ideation incubation centre explained the products developed in the incubation centre. The students were shown AR VR based products developed such as Automatic Height Measuring machine, Drone. The students interacted with the product developers and gathered lot of information.
