On 21.09.2022 an expert talk on “Unlocking the Ideator in You” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The Session was handled by Dr. G. Ignisha Rajathi, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Business Systems, Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology, Coimbatore from 01.30 – 4.30 PM.
The session started with the introduction of the guest speaker by Miss Shivani, III Year ECE student and coordinated by Dr. R Prem Ananth, IIC Convener Assistant professor, department of ECE, Francis Xavier Engineering College.
The speaker gave a brief note about Industry 1.0 to 5.0. She said Industry 5.0 is the revolution in which man and machine reconcile and find ways to work together to improve the means and efficiency of production. She also said that innovation is the key for Industry 5.0 and then she explained the concept of design thinking to Unlock the Ideator among students and staff. She elaborated the six steps in design thinking as emphasize, define, ideate, prototype, testing and implement. She explained each steps in design thinking with examples. While explaining each step the resource person gave lot of examples to make the understand the concept.
The speaker also explained the need for creative and innovating thinking especially among the engineering students and encouraged to involve in the product development and innovation. She also stressed the need to take patent for all the innovations to claim the right to produce the innovative product. She gave an example of patented LED cricket stump which earn Rs 50 lakhs per match for the person who filed the patent. The session was very much interesting and created an awareness among the participants. 74 students and 2 staff members participated in the program.
