Expert Talk on Process of Innovation Development and Technology Readiness Level

On 23.12.2022 an Expert Talk on "Process of Innovation Development and Technology Readiness Level" was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The Session was handled by Dr. R Prem Ananth, IIC Convener, IIC Innovation Ambassador for "Design thinking & Innovations", Assistant professor, Francis Xavier Engineering College from 9.00 AM - 11.30 PM. 61 students from first year ECE and 3 faculties of ECE department participated. The program was coordinated by Mr Pradheep T Rajan B, Assistant Professor /ECE, Francis Xavier Engineering College.

The Guest Speaker explained the meaning of innovation and process of innovation. He said that Innovation is Invention + Commercialization. To explain this concept he explained a recent innovative product namely Samsung “The Freestyle 100” Smart and Compact Portable LED Projector with in-Built OTT Apps and he explained the innovation established compared to old LCD Projectors. The speaker explained four types of Innovation, they are product, process, customer experience and business model Innovation. He listed few examples like analog watches, digital watches and smart watches.

The speaker explained five steps of design thinking such as Emphasize, Define, Ideate, Prototype and Testing. He explained all the steps with live examples. He enlighten the students and staffs with an example of Zomato to understand each steps. The speaker also further explained the nine levels of Technology readiness and gave few examples.
