On 2nd, November 2022 an Expert Talk on “Holistic View on IPR” was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Business Studies in association with Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC at 09:00 am to 12.30 p.m. R. Sindhuja, Examiner of Trademarks and GI Trademarks Registry, Chennai was the resource person and coordinated by Mrs. A. Anitha, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Business Systems.
The session started with a brief introduction of the guest. The guest speaker explained in detail about the concepts of Patent, Copyright, Trademark and Design. It was an interactive session where students posed queries to the guest faculty. The session also included a discussion on other types of rights, such as trade secrets, publicity rights, moral rights, and rights against unfair competition. The resource person said that the Artistic works like music and literature, as well as some discoveries, inventions, words, phrases, symbols, and designs, can also be protected as intellectual property. The speaker highlighted the purpose of intellectual property law which encourage the creation of a wide variety of intellectual goods. She also stated that Intellectual property rights refers to the general term for the assignment of property rights through patents, copyrights and trademarks. The speaker answered the queries of the participants and the program proved to be very informative for all the participants and got a lot of appreciation from faculty members and scholars.
During the session the students were be exposed to different types of intellectual property rights and motivated to convert their ideas into innovation and further transformation into IP assets through IPR.
