On 04.08.2023 an Expert Talk on "Enlightening the Future Engineers to Develop Startups” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering. The session was handled by Dr. R Prem Ananth, IIC Convener, IIC Innovation Ambassador for "Design thinking & Innovations", Assistant professor, Francis Xavier Engineering College. 94 students and 3 faculties participated. This event was coordinated by Mr Pradeep T Rajan, Assistant professor, Department of ECE, Francis Xavier Engineering College.
The guest speaker started the session by saying Entrepreneurship education fosters creative thinking and encourages engineers to identify real-world problems that can be addressed through innovative solutions. He also said startups require individuals who can adapt to changing market dynamics. Entrepreneurship education helps engineers to develop a flexible mindset to navigate uncertainties. He said to the technocrats having the entrepreneurial skills can use their technical knowledge for the development of an innovative and commercially viable products.
The speaker said successful startups require collaboration between individuals with diverse skills. Entrepreneurial skills help the engineers to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams. He also said that the now days all the higher educational institutions are encouraging the students to develop startups as their career. He said the business incubators are encouraging the students to develop innovative products with real-world applications which helps them to develop their own startups. He also gave the example of Tesla: Founded by Elon Musk, a visionary engineer-entrepreneur, Tesla revolutionized the electric vehicle industry by combining engineering innovation with entrepreneurial vision to develop the startup. He also explained the Innovation Voucher Program (IVP), a funding scheme of EDII TN which can be used by the students to develop their innovative products.
