On 30.7.2024 a “Discussion about Start-up Ideas to Reality” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The session was handled by Ms.Dharshini, Startup Founder of Infosmite, Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli from 9.00 AM to 12.30 PM. 57 students and 2 faculties participated. This event was coordinated by M.Mariammal AP/CSE. This event was conducted with the guidance of Dr.Lourdes Poobala Rayen, EDC Director.

The program started with the welcome address by M.Mariammal, AP/CSE, Francis Xavier Engineering College and she introduced the guest speaker. The speaker being a startup founder, explained the process of identifying a social problem and to develop a solution which can be converted into a startup. Identifying and understanding a real-world issue is crucial, as it forms the foundation for developing a viable solution. She highlighted the significance of conducting comprehensive market research to validate the idea and potential market for the product or service.

The speaker discussed the process of creating a business plan, stressing that it should include a well-defined value proposition, target market analysis, and a detailed financial model. This plan serves as a roadmap for the startup, guiding decision-making and helping to secure funding. She also covered various funding options, including bootstrapping, angel investors, and venture capital, explaining the pros and cons of each.

Finally, the speaker addressed the challenges startups face in scaling and adapting to market changes. They stressed the importance of staying agile and continuously innovating to maintain a competitive edge. The lecture concluded with a Q&A session, where students had the opportunity to ask questions and gain further insights into the realities of launching and growing a startup. Overall, the guest lecture provided a comprehensive overview of the startup process, from idea generation to execution, offering practical advice and inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs.
