The crash course on "Crafting Intuitive Digital Experiences in UI & UX Design" was held over two days on August 29, 2024, and August 31, 2024, for II-year MCA students. Mr. J. Esaakki Ram, a Graphic Designer at Centizen, Inc. led the session. It was initiated under the leadership of Mrs. D. Angeline Ranjithamani, the Head of the Department, MCA. Mrs. J. Anciline Jenifer, Assistant Professor in the Department of MCA at FXEC, skillfully coordinated the event. The session covered the core principles of UI and UX Design, including practical hands-on training in design creation. This training was immensely beneficial, providing students with essential insights and equipping them with the skills needed for their upcoming placements.
On the first day, the course delved into the foundational aspects of design, focusing on the distinctions between UI and UX design. Participants explored the core stages of design thinking, including the application of both divergent and convergent thinking strategies. The sessions emphasized the importance of brainstorming and game-storming techniques, encouraging creative problem-solving and ideation. Additionally, the concept of observational empathy was introduced, guiding participants on how to deeply understand and address user needs throughout the design process.
On the second day, the focus shifted to the foundations of UI and UX design. The morning sessions covered the principles of visual and UI design, including the effective use of UI elements and patterns, interaction behaviors, and branding considerations. The importance of style guides in maintaining consistency across digital products was also discussed. In the afternoon, the course transitioned to user experience, underscoring why UX is critical to successful product design. Participants gained insights into the UX design process, including its methodology and the steps required to create user-centric products. This holistic approach equipped attendees with the knowledge and tools to integrate both UI and UX principles into their design workflows effectively.
