Converting Skills into Income Generating Ventures

On 13.08.2024, a seminar on “Converting Skills into Income Generating Ventures” was organized by the Entrepreneurship Development Cell and IIC in association with the Department of MCA. The session was handled by Dr.M.Vijaya Maheswari, Assistant Professor, Department of MCA from 2.00 PM to 3.30 PM on 13.08.2024. 56 students and 2 faculties participated. This event was conducted with the guidance of Dr. Lourdes Poobala Rayen, EDC Director.

The program started with the welcome address by Mrs. D. Angeline Ranjithamani, HOD, Department of MCA, Francis Xavier Engineering College and introduced the guest speaker. In her address she explained the need for the skills. In her explanation, she also motivated the students to learn new skills and upgrade themselves with which they can make money. The main objective of the session is to make the students equip themselves with the knowledge and skills that are needed to develop a profitable venture. Various real-world examples of income-generating skills were presented to the students. Speaker suggested 10 different ways of earning money using the skills learned during the study. The speaker also discussed the individual skills as a foundation for business ventures. She also highlighted the significance of passion, consistency, and continuous learning in the journey of entrepreneurship. The software that are needed for mobile application development like Flutter, and Android was also suggested to the students as income-generating opportunities. The speaker suggested the other things like Blender and Maya for game development. Students who are interested in game development can make use of the same and can earn more. The session aimed to focus on how students think analytically and implement concepts using the skills that lead to develop new applications. The session included ideas like freelancing, online courses, consulting services, and product development. The speaker shared case studies of successful entrepreneurs who have effectively monetized their skills. The speaker demonstrated how to create an online presence, utilize social media, and engage with potential customers. The speaker also suggested how to incorporate AI in the applications they develop for which technologies like Olama, and Hugging face were suggested. Participants were encouraged to connect with others, share ideas, and seek partnerships that could enhance their ventures. For more realistic and adventures game development and animation movie making, the unreal engine was suggested. The amount of income that is generated using different skills was also indicated. This motivated the students to utilize their skills properly and to generate income. The session covered the basics of creating a business plan, including market analysis, financial planning, and marketing strategies. The speaker highlighted the importance of setting clear goals and developing a structured approach to business development. This session explained how social media can be used to promote their skills and develop business strategies.
