Department of artificial intelligence and data science, Francis Xavier Engineering college is functioning with a motive of enhancing technical skillset and product development. A team of students Gladston Akash Raja(I-AI&DS), Mari Selvam(I-AI&DS), Jebin.M(I-AI&DS) have presented their prototype in “National level Prototype contest” conducted at Birla Institute of Technology and Science(BITS) PILANI RAJASTHAN on 09.04.22.The team has won first prize in the event along with the cash award. Dr. A. Anitha, HOD/AI&DS mentored the team and supported them to win the contest.

A student team from department of AI&DS Gladston Akash Raja, Jebin.M and Mari Selvam of I year AI&DS has been the finalist of “SMART INDIA HACKATHON” held at Gujarat on December 2022. Dr.A. Anitha, HoD/AI&DS mentored the team and provided technical support for them to get selected in the contest.

In a Hackathon organized by Startup TN Tirunelveli Regional Hub in association with Google Developer Group, Madurai held on 17.11.22, students from Francis Xavier Engineering College were participated actively. Out of 600 idea submissions, 161 were shortlisted and formed as 28 teams. Out of the 28 teams participated in the hackathon, a team comprising of Ms. Abiramy (II-AI&DS), Mr.T.A. Gladston Akash Raja (II- AI&DS), Mr. Mari Selvam (II-AI&DS), Mr. S. U. Vijay(II-AI&DS) had won 1st prize for their Artificial Intelligence based product development and startup idea. They have been rewarded with start-up seed grant of Rs.35000/- by Google developer Community and startupTN. Also, the team is shortlisted for Grand Finale to be held at Google corporate office, Bangalore. The project has been mentored by Dr.A.Anitha, Professor & Head, Department of AI&DS. Mr. Gokul IAS, Assistant Collector, Tirunelveli district honoured the winners. Also, the team got opportunity to interact with Mr. N. Rahul, Project Lead – Startup TN Tirunelveli Regional Hub. He addressed the startup aspirants about converting their business idea into social welfare business model. The team has been brought to field visits to identify market potential, application and need of their idea for disabled community. Scope of their idea was discussed with domain expert and government officials.

A team of students Gladston Akash Raja(I-AI&DS) & Gayathiry (I-AI&DS) from department of AI&DS have developed a innovative product and presented in National Innovative Pitch Fest – Ideathon organized by GTU-Innovation and startup Centre on 28.4.22. First two rounds were held online. Their idea has been selected for Finals and presentation was done at Gujarat Technological University. The students interacted with Chief Guest, Shri.Jagdishbhai I. Vishwakarma, Industries Minister of Gujarat and Dr. Naven Sheth, Vice Chancellor – Gujarat Technological University. The students explained their idea to them. Dr. A. Anitha, HoD/AI&DS mentored the team and provided technical support for them to take part in the contest.

Four teams from Department of AI&DS, Jebin M, Adlin Christiana, Fathima Sheerin and Gladston Akash Raja from I year AI & DS have presented their project in the project expo conducted by National Institute of Technology Puducherry on 11.04.2022. Gladston Akash Raj from I year AI & DS got first prize in the expo and won cash prize. Dr. A. Anitha, HoD/AI&DS Professor/AI&DS mentored the team and provided technical support for them to win in the contest.

A team of students from department of AI&DS, Fathima Sheerin, selshiya sherin, Adlin Christiana, Maheshwari, Gayathiry, Abubaker of II year AI&DS participated in national level business analyst competition held at symbiosis institute of management studies, pune. Students from Department of AI&DS, Francis Xavier Engineering College Adlin Christiana A (II-AI&DS), Maheswari A (II-AI&DS), Selva Boopathy K S(II- AI&DS), Syed zakriya R (II-AI&DS) have presented their idea in “Ignite innovations-National level Project contest” conducted by project contest innovative LLP in association with Annamalai innovation and incubation research foundation on Nov 13,2022. The team has won first prize (jury choice award) in the event. Prof. Arunadevi M AP/AI&DS mentored the team and supported them to win the contest.

The Department of Artificial intelligence and Data science in Francis Xavier Engineering college is functioning with a motive of enhancing technical entrepreneurship skill set, innovation and product development. A team from Artificial intelligence and data science, Gladston Akash Raja (II-AI&DS), Vijay S. U(II-AI&DS), have developed low-cost health care product using AI and have presented their project in PROMETEO’23 a “National level Project contest” conducted at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) JODHPUR, RAJASTHAN on 20.01.23. The theme of the event is centred around “Origin to infinity”, that is to explore the past and future of technological and entrepreneurial development through a wide range of ideas developed and presented. The team has won fourth prize in the event and the event was sponsored by NIVIDIA. Dr. A. Anitha, HOD/AI&DS mentored the team and supported them to win the project contest.

A team of students from Department of AI&DS, Syed zakriya (II-AI&DS), Selva Boopathy (II-AI&DS) and Narendran (II-CS&BS) have presented their project titled “signifies sign languages” in the project expo “SHAASTRA 2023” conducted by Indian Institute of Technology Madras on 27.01.2023. Mrs. Arunadevi M, AP/AI&DS mentored and provide technical support to the team.

A team of students from department of Artificial intelligence and data science, Abiramy (II-AI&DS), Celshiya (II-AI&DS), Gladston Akash Raja (II-AI&DS), Mari Selvam (II-AI&DS) and Vijay S U who won the first prize in the recently succeeded Startup TN Hackathon has attended Google developer group‟s flutter bootcamp and presented their project in the finale of “DEVHACK 2023” organized by Google developer community, Madurai. They developed the front-end application in flutter with mentoring from google developer community. Students were actively interacted with the mentor and acquire lot of knowledge on current trend technologies and they got more information regarding their career development and ideas to improve their entrepreneurship skills. Dr. Anitha, HOD/AI&DS guided the team to their professional development.

Mr. Alen Roi of I year AI & DS has won First Prize in state level swimming championship (2 Gold Medals, 1 Bronze Medal) conducted by Tamil Nadu State Aquatic Association on 27,28 & 29th Dec 2022
